Morag Ingram is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors and a former senior public servant with experience in governance, strategy, risk and organisational leadership. She runs Wharf Road Consulting, an independent advisory practice working with boards and leadership teams.

Morag has held governance roles across the public and community sectors. She is currently Presiding Member of Riwaka School Board and a Lay Member of the New Zealand Law Society’s Lawyers’ Standards Committee.

She is particularly interested in how boards exercise good judgement, navigate complex decisions and contribute to the long-term success of the organisations and communities they serve.

Judges Brian Nathan MInstD, Joy Marslin MInstD and Kerensa Johnson MInstD noted that, given the strength of the field, selecting a winner was no easy task.

"The calibre of candidates was exceptionally high. Morag stood out for her leadership potential, depth of purpose and commitment to governance. The panel believes the Emerging Director Award will provide significant value in supporting her governance journey and recognises her potential to make a strong contribution both regionally and nationally."
