Join directors, trustees and leaders from across the not-for-profit sector for an evening of practical insights, discussion and connection.
Not-for-profit organisations are navigating an increasingly complex environment, from funding and sustainability to governance, technology and AI, employment relationships, stakeholder expectations and demonstrating impact.
Hear from four speakers who will share their perspectives and experience on key issues facing the sector, with practical ideas you can take back to your organisation.
This event is designed for directors, trustees, executives, managers and others involved in the governance or leadership of not-for-profit organisations. It is also an opportunity to connect with others across the sector, exchange ideas and strengthen your networks.

Michelle is the National Chair of Scouts Aotearoa, having taken over the role in 2024. She knows first-hand the difference Scouts makes in young people's lives. She was a youth member of Guiding New Zealand (achieving her Queen’s Guide Award), before joining Scouts as 16 year old Venturer. Over the past 20 years she has held adult leadership roles across the organisation such as Scout Leader, Zone Venturer Leader, Camp Director and Board Member.
When is not “Scouting” she is a barrister specialising in employment law and workplace resolutions. She is the vice President of the Rotorua Chamber of Commerce and an active Justice of the Peace. She lives on a rural lifestyle block near Rotorua with a myriad of animals and a garden that is way too big.
Fiona Cameron has more than 30 years’ experience designing surveys and analysing what they reveal across commercial, social and community research. Through FC Market Research, she specialises in community and public-good survey research, with a focus on making questionnaire design “as simple as possible, but no simpler”.
This year, Fiona launched The Event Measurement Company, providing independent stakeholder research for events of all sizes.
Having seen research evolve from door-knocking and manual data entry to online surveys and AI-powered analysis, Fiona has spent the past year testing AI tools against her own analysis of raw data.
In this session, she will share practical insights for not-for-profit organisations, exploring what has changed, how to distinguish reliable AI-assisted research from confident-sounding guesswork, and what organisations need to protect as AI becomes part of everyday practice.
Her approach is grounded in respect for respondents’ time, positive outcomes and kaitiakitanga – guardianship of the relationships research depends on.

An intense curiosity of how people move from idea to action, fuels Megan’s special interest in the fields of creativity, innovation, collaborative teamwork, and leadership. Megan enjoys bringing those interest areas into discussions focused on governance, raising funds, raising profile and building great teams.
Ken first joined KPMG’s Hamilton office in 1998 after graduating from the University of Waikato. He has worked with many Waikato-based companies and organisations, and has extensive experience in providing best practice management and financial accounting services. Ken gained international experience with KPMG secondments to the US and London. Following six years with a major New Zealand corporate, leading a team of 100 accountants, Ken returned to KPMG in 2015 as an Enterprise Partner. Ken has a wide variety of clients: start-ups, family-owned businesses, public-sector and large corporates. Ken is passionate about KPMG’s prosperity story: helping New Zealand’s businesses succeed, the public sector to achieve more, and our communities to grow.
