Overview

D&O insurance is a critical protection mechanism for any strong corporate governance regime ensuring the sustainability of boards and the organisations they represent.

Directors and officers operate in an environment of increased scrutiny from third parties. They need to familiarise themselves with their statutory duties and the terms and conditions of their D&O policies.

Carien Adhar and Lisa de Bruin from Marsh Dunedin will discuss the basics of D&O liability and insurance policies, directors’ duties and provide comment on general pitfalls.

Speakers

Carien Ahdar

Carien has worked in the New Zealand broking industry since 2012, specialising in financial lines. She provides advice to corporate entities, trusts, associations, SME’s and the professions. Carien is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa where she practised as a solicitor for 12 years and worked for a state owned insurer.

Lisa de Bruin

Lisa joined Marsh in 2017 specialising in the broking of liability risks for a variety of businesses. Lisa is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa where she served as in-house legal counsel in the corporate and commercial private sector.

Lisa and Carien are based in the Marsh Dunedin office. They both specialise in complex liability insurance placements for clients in the South Island.
