What does successful climate action look like beyond strategy documents and commitments? Join us for the 2026 Chapter Zero Breakfast and hear firsthand from senior leaders representing four of New Zealand's biggest companies across four sectors: IAG, Infratil, Summerset and Fonterra.
Through practical case stories, speakers will take us inside their organisations to explore how a focus on Sustainability and Climate Change achieved positive outcomes. You'll hear the details: what prompted action, what they chose to focus on, how they brought people with them, and where they encountered challenges.
Bringing together perspectives from insurance, infrastructure, retirement living and primary industries, this session offers a unique opportunity to compare experiences across sectors and explore what drives successful implementation. Participants will gain practical insights into how organisations are embedding climate and nature considerations into strategy, investment, risk management and operational decision-making, while creating long-term value and resilience.
Combining individual presentations with a facilitated panel discussion, you'll come away with candid reflections from experienced leaders and practical lessons that can be applied in any organisation. Expect an honest discussion about what it takes to move from ambition to action and the tangible outcomes that can be achieved when climate and nature considerations are embedded into business decision-making.

Brent and his wife Delwyn are proud dairy farmers in the Waikato. Brent is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Institute of Accountants. Prior to his director roles, Brent was with PwC for 25 years in New Zealand, Moscow and London. He also worked in Private Equity in London and New York.
Brent is currently on the board of Fonterra Cooperative, Rabobank New Zealand and the Power Farming Group (importing and retailing tractors and machinery in NZ, Australia and the US). He is the Chair of Waitomo Group - the fuel disruptor, and Better Eggs (supplying 30% of the supermarkets eggs). Brent is also helping at Health New Zealand, chairing the Financial Turnaround and HR Oversight committees.
Brent has a passion for food, nutrition and our rural communities and environment. In particular, he is a strong advocate for sound economics and efficient production of food.
Margaret leads Summerset’s Finance and Strategy teams along with Corporate Services including Summerset’s Property and Legal teams.
Before joining Summerset Margaret was CFO at NZX/ASX listed technology company EROAD, CFO at Statistics New Zealand and was previously Summerset’s Head of Finance.
Margaret holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration and is a member of Chartered Accountants ANZ. She also holds a Diploma of Teaching.
Phil Gibson was appointed CEO of IAG New Zealand in February 2026, leading New Zealand’s largest general insurer across the AMI, State, NZI, Lumley and Lantern brands, as well as strategic banking partnerships. With more than 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry across North America, Phil has held senior leadership roles at Aviva Canada, Allstate and Travelers. He brings deep expertise in business transformation, customer-focused growth, data and analytics, and leading large-scale insurance operations.
Louise Tong is Executive Director, Sustainability at Infratil, where she leads the company’s sustainability strategy and supports integration and disclosure of climate and sustainability issues across its global portfolio of infrastructure investments.
Louise brings experience spanning sustainability, sustainable finance, capital markets and infrastructure. Prior to joining Infratil, she established BNZ’s Sustainable Finance capability and led a number of landmark sustainable finance transactions, including work supporting the establishment of the New Zealand Government’s Green Bond Programme.
Louise has also served as a Director and Chair of INFINZ, New Zealand’s professional body for the finance sector and as an independent member of Auckland Council’s Treasury Management Steering Group. She brings a practical perspective on the intersection of climate-related issues with financial and capital markets, as well as insights into how businesses and boards and management teams navigate climate risks and opportunities to strengthen resilience, inform investment decisions and create long-term value.
