Join Conan Bradley from Kordia, as he discusses the options board’s have when faced with a ransom demand.
According to research conducted by Kordia, almost 1 in 10 businesses compromised by a cyber incident indicated that they paid a ransom or extortion demand to a cybercriminal*. A small, but troubling statistic.
Not only does paying a ransom incentivise cybercriminals to continue to extort their victims, there’s also no guarantee that paying a ransom will achieve the desired result, or that those same cybercriminals won’t exploit those known vulnerabilities and simply attack again.
What is certain, is the decision ‘to pay or not to pay’ should not be debated in the midst of a cyber-attack. Instead, a board discussion in a stress-free environment is the best time to consider options.
This webcast will consider the pros and cons when faced with a ransom demand, and how a board can manage such risks as part of their incident response plan.
