Young Directors’ Network: Next-gen governance workshop

Overview

Following the first session in our Young Directors’ Network (YDN) series, this interactive workshop in Christchurch invites you to share ideas, experiences and aspirations for the next generation of governance leaders. 

In an environment where boards are focusing on long-term growth, adaptability and diversity of thought, young directors have a unique opportunity to make an impact. This session will explore how fresh perspectives can strengthen board discussions, challenge assumptions, and help organisations respond effectively to emerging opportunities and challenges. 

Working in groups, Chartered Fellows, YDN and IoD Canterbury committee members will facilitate conversations on: 

• The unique value young directors bring to the boardroom
• How boards can benefit from their fresh perspectives on emerging issues
• Assumptions that may hold boards back from considering young directors, and how to address them
• Challenges for emerging directors stepping into governance, and how to overcome them
• Ways to raise the profile of young directors and support their governance journey 

We welcome new and aspiring directors – and those who work with them – to join this opportunity to learn, connect, and contribute to lifting the profile of young directors.
