Join Kordia as we unpack NZ’s shifting cyber landscape—higher risk, higher accountability, and actions directors need now.
In 2025/26, several landmark cyber incidents - both globally and in New Zealand - have materially shifted the threat landscape. In response, the New Zealand government has released a national Cyber Security Strategy, that signals heightened expectations for governance oversight, organisational resilience, and director accountability.
Boards must now treat cyber risk as a core business risk, not a technical issue. This briefing outlines which attack vectors are currently proving most effective, where organisations are unintentionally increasing their exposure, and what practical governance actions directors can take to strengthen resilience and manage both corporate and personal liability in an increasingly volatile threat environment.
Directors' Deep Dive events are smaller interactive discussion-style sessions where you will be encouraged to ask questions and actively contribute your perspectives.
Patrick Sharp is a New Zealand-based cyber security leader and strategist. As General Manager of Aura Information Security, Kordia’s independent cyber security consulting division, he leads a team of consultants who advise public and private sector clients across New Zealand and Australia on cyber risk and resilience and security strategy.
With more than 25 years in IT and over a decade in cyber security, Patrick helps leaders understand how attackers think and embed that insight into stronger governance and risk management. He is regularly interviewed by mainstream and business media on cyber trends, governance, and breach response, and provides expert commentary on security threats affecting New Zealanders.
Patrick advocates for cyber security as a governance responsibility grounded in adversarial awareness, helping leaders make business-focused security decisions. He holds an MBA and is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
