Members and guests are invited to attend the Otago Southland branch Annual General Meeting, led by Branch Chair Scott Mason, followed by a fireside chat with Catherine Savage CFInstD, facilitated by Rowena Davenport CMinstD.
In this reflective conversation, Catherine will share insights from her governance career and discuss how directors lead with values in complex, high-stakes environments. The discussion will explore stewardship, integrity and the importance of balancing short-term pressures with long-term impact.
Through a series of guided questions, Catherine will reflect on how personal values shape leadership, what integrity looks like when board decisions are difficult, and how directors can navigate risk, accountability and heightened scrutiny while maintaining public trust.
This is an opportunity to hear from one of New Zealand’s most respected governance leaders and reflect on the role of values-led governance in today’s boardrooms.

Catherine Savage is a distinguished business leader with over 30 years’ experience spanning public and private sectors across Asia Pacific. Former Managing Director of AMP Capital and long-serving Chair of the NZ Super Fund, she currently holds directorships with NZ Rugby, Beca, and global organisations including the Pacific Pension Institute. Known for her integrity and quiet influence, Catherine actively champions women in leadership and community causes. Through Savage Group and personal philanthropy, she uplifts others and advances inclusive, values-led governance in Aotearoa and beyond.
Catherine was named a 2025 laureate of the New Zealand Business Hall of Fame.
