Overview

A high-performing board does not happen by chance. It takes regular reflection, honest discussion and a commitment to continuous improvement. Join Wayne Church, IoD Board Evaluations Manager, for an informative presentation on how board evaluations can help boards understand how they are performing, identify strengths and areas for development, and turn feedback into practical action.

Wayne will outline the evaluation options available for not-for-profit, commercial and Crown entity boards, and present some examples of recent self-managed and tailored board evaluations. He will also explain how IoD’s evaluation framework, grounded in the Four Pillars of Governance Best Practice, provides independent, practical insights in an Aotearoa New Zealand context.

This session is designed for IoD members and non-members who want to strengthen board dynamics, improve governance practice and support their boards to perform at their best.

Spaces are limited.  If the event is fully booked, please email canterbury.branch@iod.org.nz to join the waitlist.

Wayne Church

Board Evaluations Manager, Institute of Directors

Wayne has been with the Institute of Directors for over two years and has a background in governance advice, government and education. He has advised ministers on Crown entity board appointments and performance for several government agencies. He has also supported a programme board and was elected as a member of a school board of trustees. These experiences have given him a strong understanding and appreciation of good governance practice and the qualities of effective directors.

Wayne works closely with boards across a range of sectors to provide advice on board evaluation options, as well as clear, practical insights and advice on their governance practices to strengthen their effectiveness. He supports boards to reflect on their work, identify strengths and areas for development, and how their governance practices compare with other boards.
