Overview

Celebrate the season with us as we reflect on the year that’s been.  This festive evening is the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow members, share highlights, and raise a glass to the opportunities to come.

Todd  Muller will be speaking on the critical intersection of geopolitics and governance, with a particular focus on the shifting dynamics of Trump’s America after the first (fifth) year in office. His session will explore how the policies, leadership style, and global positioning of the United States under Trump have influenced international relations, trade, and security, and what these changes could mean for New Zealand’s governance landscape. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the ripple effects of global political movements, and how boards and leaders in Aotearoa can adapt and respond to an increasingly uncertain geopolitical environment.

Join us for an evening of connection, celebration, and thought-provoking conversation.

Todd Muller

Todd Muller, a former agribusiness leader and politician from Tauranga, has built a diverse career across business, politics, and community service.

Raised on a kiwifruit orchard in Te Puna, he studied US politics at Waikato University before serving as Executive Assistant to Prime Minister Rt Hon Jim Bolger. He went on to senior leadership roles with Zespri, Apata and Fonterra before entering Parliament in 2014 as MP for Bay of Plenty. Highlights of his political career include co-negotiating the Zero Carbon Act, strengthening sunscreen regulations, and briefly leading the National Party in 2020.

His openness about his struggles with anxiety and panic attacks has made him a strong advocate for mental health. In Parliament, he held key portfolios including Oceans and Fisheries, Agriculture, and Climate Change before retiring in 2023.

Post-politics, Todd chairs Priority One, lectures at Waikato Management School, co-hosts a US politics podcast, and supports environmental NGOs.
