Step into the boardroom and test your judgement in a live governance simulation designed for young and emerging directors.
This practical, high-energy session places you in the role of a board facing a complex and fast-moving crisis.
Working in small groups, you will take on board roles to set direction, define risk appetite, and respond to escalating external pressure. As the situation evolves in real time, the simulation will test your ability to balance commercial realities with fairness, reputation, and long-term impact.
Led by an experienced director and facilitator, the session will also include a structured debrief to reflect on governance discipline, decision-making, and board and CEO dynamics under pressure.
This event is particularly suited to emerging directors looking to build confidence, sharpen their governance thinking, and gain practical experience in a safe but challenging environment.

Andrew joined Pāmu in January 2016 from Melbourne, Australia where he was the co-Head of Aquila Capital Farms - the agricultural investment division of the Aquila group focusing on farm investments in New Zealand and Australia. Before Aquila, Andrew spent eight years in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong with Macquarie Bank, eventually becoming the Head of Macquarie’s Agriculture Funds business in Asia.
Andrew has worked with some of the world’s largest investment funds as well as small private investors to make investments into the agricultural sector. Prior to Macquarie Bank, Andrew held finance roles in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Andrew was born and bred in Wellington before heading to the University of Otago to complete his bachelors and postgraduate qualifications.

Livia Esterhazy has sat on both sides of the board table. As CEO of WWF New Zealand she reported to a board, and as Regional Board Chair of WWF Asia Pacific she led one. She was three months into the chair role when COVID hit. The board had to set direction, reassess risk and back management through a crisis that changed week by week, with very little certainty to work from.
She now leads A Lighter Touch as Programme Director. It's a $27 million partnership between MPI and the horticulture, viticulture and arable sectors to move growers from relying on agrichemicals for crop protection to agroecological methods. Her work puts her among the growers, industry bodies and government people who deal with pressure on inputs. Before this she was a Minister-appointed director of NIWA and GNS Science and served on the Treasury Advisory Board. Her earlier career saw her lead high pressure commercial roles with Saatchi & Saatchi, Clemenger BBDO and Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
Off the board she has raised five now-grown kids and is enjoying mountain biking and flying parameters around the Tasman region.
