Cyber-attacks you don’t hear about, why they want to target you, and how to develop and maintain an enduring deterrence
There doesn’t seem to be a day go by lately where cyber-attacks are not making headlines.
This session will delve behind the press coverage to show you what cyber warfare is really like from the perspective of one of the largest in region security teams, and share some of their pivotal war stories.
You will also gain insight into ‘malicious actor’s’ from Datacom’s experience of cyber-attacks, learn about the trends observed, and why they would want to target your business.
The presentation will conclude with some high-level guidance based on decades of experience as to what questions and actions directors should be putting to their organisations, suppliers, and customers in order to deter attacks, leverage the business opportunities, and play their part of five million.
“In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity” - Sun Tzu.
Raised on a farm Edd took the unusual route of a “desk job” choosing to work with five eyes intelligence, the military, and industry scaling UK cybersecurity capability. He aided in the establishment of UK NCSC, developed the standards for the world’s largest security firm and supported Y Combinator funded start-ups. His current role is to ensure businesses can effectively pursue their purpose through the advancement of cybersecurity.
Edd has provided cybersecurity guidance on four continents whilst running his own business. He is an impassioned advocate of employing proportional security to enhance and enable society through successful businesses, meanwhile assuring individuals right to privacy. He develops methods to simplify needless complexities into digestible and comprehensible approaches that deliver tangible results to business and ultimately back to society.
Edd is flanked by over 100 dedicated New Zealand based security experts working around the clock, with hundreds more holding security skills and certifications within wider Datacom, defending citizens and business across the globe against the unrelenting attacks.
