How our youngest economist is reimagining the New Zealand economy.
As we enter a new year, full of high hopes for a COVID-19 vaccine, the New Zealand economy is still very volatile.
It's hard to comprehend how the economy is going to shape up as we face ongoing job losses, inflated real estate, restricted border access, adjustment to new emerging business practices and uncertainty about the future of our international trading relationships.
We are delighted to have Brad join us to share his perspectives on reimagining the New Zealand economy.
Brad is a senior economist and director at Infometrics and a leading economic commentator across New Zealand who focuses on getting useful information to businesses, decision makers, and the public. At present, he is focused on the economic effects of COVID-19 and the reimagination of the New Zealand economy, as jobs are lost, business practices change, and a “new” normal emerges.
Since joining Infometrics in July 2015 as a part-time data analyst while studying at Victoria University of Wellington, Brad has risen to be one of New Zealand’s more prominent (and youngest) economic commentators, regularly featuring across TV, radio, print, and online.
Brad’s role at Infometrics covers all parts of the business, including in the regional, sector, and forecasting space, where he analyses and evaluates the latest economic trends.
Outside of work, Brad’s an active and engaged member of the Wellington community and is currently New Zealand’s youngest Justice of the Peace (JP). He is also a member of the Global Shapers Community Wellington Hub, Wellington City Youth Council, the Citizens Health Council (advising the Capital and Coast DHB), the Asia New Zealand Foundation Leadership Network, the Wellington District Licensing Committee, and volunteers with Take10. In 2016, he was New Zealand’s recipient of the Queen’s Young Leader Award and has met with the Queen on three occasions.
