A practical boardroom discussion on health and safety leadership, governance and the latest legislative changes.
Health and safety remains one of the most significant governance responsibilities facing directors today, yet the conversation is increasingly about leadership, culture and organisational performance rather than compliance alone.
Join Francois Barton, Chief Executive of the Business Leaders' Health and Safety Forum, for an interactive discussion on the findings of the recently released State of a Thriving Nation report. Francois will share key insights from the report and invite participants to explore what the findings mean for boards, organisations and the wider business environment.
To round out the event, Francois will share the IoD's Fast Fact update on the recent health and safety law changes. Fresh from presenting this session at the IoD Leadership Conference in Auckland, he'll bring the key takeaways to Queenstown and explore what the changes mean for directors and their boards in practice.
Expect a highly relevant, practical and engaging session designed to help directors strengthen their understanding of effective health and safety governance while sharing experiences with peers from across the region.
This event is presented in partnership with the Business Leaders' Health and Safety Forum and the Queenstown Business Chamber.

Francois is the Chief Executive of the New Zealand Business Leaders’ Health and Safety Forum – New Zealand’s largest CEO membership group, representing a coalition of more than 440 CEOs who lead more than 25% of our national workforce, and committed to building cultures that enable people and business to thrive.
His motivating belief, developed and confirmed by more than 20 years of working with business and across government in policy, strategy and regulation, is that progress only comes when leaders confront difficult realities together. This is why Francois was one of the founders of the Business Leaders’ Health and Safety Forum back in 2009 and is immensely proud and privileged to have been Forum Chief Executive since 2015.
