From $10m and 48 staff to $100m and 600, Paul Moodie and Greg Jolly share lessons from the journey.
Founded in Lawrence in 1987, Tuapeka Gold Print had already built a strong reputation before entering a transformative period of growth under the leadership of Chair Paul Moodie and Chief Executive Greg Jolly. During their 10-year partnership, turnover grew from $10 million to more than $100 million and the workforce expanded from 48 to over 600 employees. Today, the business is known as TRENDS, following a rebrand that reflects the broader range of products and services the company now offers.
Behind that growth was a close and enduring partnership between Chair Paul Moodie and Chief Executive Greg Jolly. Join Paul and Greg as they reflect on their decade-long working relationship and share insights into the governance and leadership dynamics that supported the company's growth journey.
Chaired by Scott Mason CFInstD, this informal fireside chat will explore the chair-chief executive relationship behind TRENDS' growth journey. Through candid discussion and practical examples, Paul and Greg will share how they built trust, communicated openly, balanced governance and management responsibilities, and worked together to navigate the opportunities and challenges of rapid expansion.
Now that both have stepped away from the business, Paul and Greg are uniquely placed to look back on what worked, what they would do differently, and the lessons they learned along the way. This is a rare opportunity to hear perspectives from both sides of one of the most important relationships in any organisation, with practical takeaways for chairs, chief executives and directors alike.
