The AGM will conclude with our guest speaker, an exceptional New Zealander and retired Paralympian, Duane Kale.  Duane will share his experiences of leading through uncertain times at The Tokyo Paralympic games.

Duane Kale

Duane Kale is a Paralympian (#96) and an experienced leader in both business and sport. Alongside his professional career in Banking (recently concluded after 35 years), he has significant experience in leadership and Governance in sport at both a domestic and international level. He currently serves as the Vice President of the International Paralympic Committee where he chairs the Governance Review of the organisation.

Before his sport governance involvements, Duane claimed six medals at the 1996 Paralympic Games, including four gold. He went on to leading the New Zealand team as Chef de Mission to both the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Paralympic Games.

Duane’s professional background in finance, risk and leadership is now blended with his athlete and sport governance experiences, as he looks to help shape the direction of sport while maintaining high moral and ethical standards, and to use sport as a mechanism to make for a more inclusive society.

His commitment to sport has been acknowledged in the New Zealand Honours with an ONZM, Paralympics NZ Order of Merit, Sport NZ Lifetime Achievement Award and the Attitude Awards Hall of Fame.
