If you were unable to attend a Governance in Focus: 2026 Roadshow event in person, this webinar brings the key content from the nationwide series to you online.

Governance Leadership Centre experts Herman Visagie and Judene Edgar will revisit the latest legislative developments, topical governance issues and emerging trends covered during the roadshow. They will explain what these developments mean for directors and highlight the practical implications for boards and governance practice.

Designed as a follow-up to the 2026 roadshow, the session offers a practical way to catch up on the issues that matter, understand why they matter and consider how to address them in your own governance practice.

Open to everyone, with complimentary attendance for IoD members, this online event is an opportunity to catch up, stay informed and strengthen your governance practice.

Herman Visagie

As General Manager of the Governance Leadership Centre and Registrar, Herman leads the organisation’s research, advocacy, policy agenda, and governance support for directors and boards. Prior to joining the Institute, Herman held executive level and governance roles across the private, not-for -profit, and public sectors. 

Previous roles include CEO of Telecommunications Dispute Resolution Limited, General Counsel at the Real Estate Authority, and Executive General Counsel, Chief of Staff, and Company Secretary roles at TSB Bank.

He has held a number of governance roles, including Chair of the Finance, Audit, and Risk Committee for the Law Society of New Zealand, and has supported a governance education and improvement processes for organisations in NZ and the wider region in the areas of strategy, risk management, and organisational design.    

Judene Edgar

CMInstD

Judene is a Principal Governance Advisor with the Institute of Directors’ Governance Leadership Centre, leading governance research, best practice guidance and advocacy for directors, and Chapter Zero NZ.

Prior to joining the IoD she ran her own consultancy for over 20 years, specialising in governance, policy, strategy and communications working across a wide range of sectors, including housing, health, solid waste, aviation, energy, not-for-profit and infrastructure. 

Judene was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to governance, local government and the community in the 2026 New Year Honours. She was a local government elected member for 12 years and a director on a range of private and public entity boards. She has a background in behavioural science and communications and is a Chartered Member of the IoD.
