Explore how evolving risks are reshaping governance and the board decisions that build long term resilience.
This webinar is free for Chapter Zero NZ supporters. When booking the event please enter the code SUPPORTERMAY26.
Some of the most material risks facing organisations today don’t sit neatly in one category or stay contained. They build over time, interact across systems, and are often only recognised once they begin to affect performance, assets or operations.
For boards, the challenge is not identifying individual risks — it is understanding how they evolve and how decisions shape resilience over time.
Climate-related risks are a clear example of this shift. They influence asset performance, insurance availability, supply chains, capital decisions and long-term viability.
The 2026 National Climate Change Risk Assessment provides a system-wide view of how these risks are emerging across Aotearoa New Zealand. While developed to inform government, it offers a practical lens for boards seeking to better understand the nature of risk in a changing environment.
This session will explore what this means in practice for directors. It will focus on how national-level insights can inform boardroom thinking, including:
Jo Hendy is Chief Executive of New Zealand’s Climate Change Commission, where she leads independent advice to help the country move toward a low-emissions, climate-resilient future that works for everyone. With over two decades of experience at the intersection of science, policy, and economics, Jo is known for her calm, clear thinking and ability to bring people together around complex issues. She’s committed to building trust across government, business, iwi, and communities — helping decision-makers navigate uncertainty and act with confidence as the climate changes.
