Overview

Rapid technological change and global volatility are reshaping the board agenda. Strategic technology oversight is no longer an operational matter. It is a core governance responsibility.

As highlighted in the Institute of Directors’ top five issues for directors in 2026, boards face interconnected pressures: accelerating AI adoption, rising cyber risk, economic uncertainty, shifting stakeholder expectations, and the need to strengthen long-term resilience. Technology sits at the centre of each of these challenges.

Boards face a fundamental choice: treat technology as a reactive necessity that can be handled “one the fly” or embrace it as a strategic lever that will:

  • Align technology investment with strategy
  • Shape business models
  • Deliver operational efficiency
  • Protect stakeholder trust
  • Support sustainable, long-term value creation

Directors and business leaders who understand this distinction will lead organisations that actively own their technological future and grow through volatility rather than merely survive it. This session will provide practical governance insights to support confident, forward-looking board leadership in uncertain times.

Directors' Deep Dive events are smaller interactive discussion-style sessions where you will be encouraged to ask questions and actively contribute your perspectives.

Lunch will be provided.
