Particular skills/competencies sought

Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology (Toi Ohomai) wishes to appoint an independent committee chair to the Finance and Audit and Risk (FAR) Committee for a three year period from March 2026 to March 2029.

The role of the Committee is to provide assurance and assistance to the Toi Ohomai Council on management of Council's financial, audit and risk control and compliance framework and its external accountability responsibilities.

We are seeking someone connected to our rohe, and preferably (although not essential) located in the Rotorua or Tauranga area that can provide specialist expertise and can contribute to the governance of Council through membership of the FAR Committee.

The expectation is that this person:

  1. Will be a CA and have significant accounting experience at this level.
  2. Audit experience is also preferred
  3. Will have skills and experiences around public and private entities.
  4.  If agreeable would Chair the committee.

The appointee will be expected to prepare for, attend in person at our main campuses in Rotorua and Tauranga and actively participate in the regular meetings of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee. It is expected that there will be six to ten meetings per year (frequency anticipated to commence monthly and reduce over time). Meetings are expected to be scheduled for two to three hours. There may be occasions where extraordinary meetings or workshops are scheduled, but these will be advised.

Ideally the appointee would attend the Audit, Risk and Finance Committee meeting on 24 March 2026.

Commitment required

It is expected that there will be six to ten meetings per year (frequency anticipated to commence monthly and reduce over time).

Meetings are expected to be scheduled for two to three hours.
