Director Vacancies
A cost-effective way to reach our extensive membership pool of director talent, our vacancies service can help you find the right person for your board.
We offer three tiers of Director Vacancies advertising to suit the level of recruitment support your board requires.
As our core service, we advertise your board position to our members via our website, social media and monthly vacancies email.
How we help
Your Director Vacancies advertisement will gain exposure across three platforms, reaching engaged candidates seeking board appointments.
-
- See your advert published to our dedicated Director Vacancies page – the most visited page on the IoD website with more than 3,500 views a month
- Your role will be promoted to nearly 5,000 followers on our Director Vacancies LinkedIn page
- Reach more than 9,000 members keeping on the pulse of new board opportunities, through registration to our Director Vacancies monthly newsletter where your position is promoted (when timings permit)
We recommend you allow at least four weeks for promotion before your close date for applications. This ensures you opportunity is promoted through our member network and through the monthly newsletter.

The experience a candidate has with your brand is important – it can influence their perception of your organisation. A positive candidate experience enhances your brand and creates a competitive edge in securing top talent. This option offers you the core Director Vacancies service plus application management of all interest received for your opportunity. We manage their journey with care, ensuring an optimal recruitment experience.
How we help
Candidates can submit their CV and cover letter via our user-friendly online tracking system which allows a seamless application experience. Once a candidate applies for your opportunity, we respond on your behalf to acknowledge their application. Candidates are updated about progress or delays throughout your recruitment process, right through to communicating to those who are unsuccessful*.
All applications are collated and shared with you once the role closes. These are shared via a private external SharePoint site with access security, as opposed to individual emails directed to your inbox throughout the listing period.
*Please note candidates who progress to interview must be declined by the appointment Chair or appropriate panel member.

See the terms and conditions for advertising a director vacancy.
All New Zealand registered companies are required under the Companies Act 1993 to have at least one director who either lives in New Zealand, or lives in Australia and is a director of an Australian company.
The Institute of Directors provides board appointment services such as director search, director vacancies, and board appointment support for bona fide director appointments. We do not provide these services for director appointments in name only or in a company before it is registered in New Zealand, for example to satisfy the director residence requirement.
