Overview

Recording date - 23 November 2022

The 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference – COP27 – was held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, from 6–18 November 2022.

COP27 brought together global leaders and other stakeholders to negotiate and agree on global climate commitments and treaties. The outcomes of COP27 had significant implications for business locally and globally.

In November, we explored the outcomes of COP27, discussed the international response, and considered New Zealand’s role in global action.

We were also joined by directors Scott St John, Fonterra, and Rob Hewett, Silver Fern Farms, who discussed a director’s perspective on integrating climate considerations into strategy and explored the agriculture sector’s approach to climate change.

This session:

    • Explored the key outcomes of COP27 and how they would impact boards and senior business leaders in the years to come
    • Discussed how to integrate climate considerations into board decision-making
    • Shared insights and learnings from experienced directors navigating climate governance

These insights are intended as a broad summary of the topics discussed in the webinar and not direct quotes from the panellists.
