Join us at KPMG’s Governance in Government breakfast series to explore the transformative power of women in governance in the public sector.
Organisations that emphasise inclusion and diversity in leadership positions are proven to stimulate growth and innovation.
Moderated by Suse Reynolds MInstD, we’re getting together with Naomi Ferguson MInstD (Te Whatu Ora board member and previous Commissioner and Chief Executive at Inland Revenue), and experienced director Anna Kominik MInstD (current Chair of the Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko and board member at Dawn Aerospace) to discuss their governance experiences in the public sector.
Naomi was the founding sponsor of the Government Women’s Network and co-lead for Diversity and Inclusion across the public sector. Anna works with organisations to build diversity in the talent pipeline. Both panellists are passionate about creating value and building equity, diversity and inclusion into all phases of the innovation cycle.
Join us for this KPMG Governance in Government breakfast event with Naomi and Anna for a thought-provoking discussion on women in governance in the public sector.
Our thanks to event sponsor KPMG.
Anna is an experienced senior executive, entrepreneur and chair/director, with 25+ years of delivering results across the commercial, community and government sectors, delivering on market building, diversity and inclusion, and nurturing strategic relationships to create business and social outcomes.
She is currently the Chair of the Electricity Authority, Chair of the Edmund Hillary Fellowship and Hillary Institute and on the Board of Dawn Aerospace. Outside of her governance roles, Anna works in innovation - commercialising emerging technologies locally and globally. Most recently, Anna was Asia Pacific Director of Wisk - sitting on the US executive and working with a multinational team to bring to market one of the world’s first self-flying, electric air taxis.
Anna has been recognised in Aotearoa and globally for her leadership and achievements in driving green innovations that create sustainable, inclusive and distributed social and economic value. In 2022, she was a finalist in the Women of Influence and has been named as a Global Influencer for her work in helping to shape the electric vertical takeoff and landing industry as an inclusive and diverse industry.
Naomi has more than 30 years senior leadership experience in the public sector in New Zealand and the UK. As Commissioner of Inland Revenue, she successfully led Inland Revenue between 2012 and 2022, leading the delivery of the highly complex Business Transformation Programme during her tenure. She is widely recognised as an effective leader of significant change programmes in large and complex organisations.
Naomi is passionate about diversity and inclusion and was the co-chair of Papa Pounamu, sponsor of the Government Women’s Network and Chair of the Gender Balance Network of the OECD Tax Administration Forum. She was awarded the Women of Influence Public Policy award in 2016 in recognition of her work in this area.
Naomi is currently the Chair of Education Payroll Ltd and serves on the Board of Te Whatu Ora. Previous governance roles include roles in the UK and New Zealand range across the Tax Administration, Health, Justice and Social Welfare sectors in the public sector, and international forums such as the OECD. Naomi also served as a Trustee of Diversity Works New Zealand.
Naomi is a member of the Institute of Directors. In the 2022 Jubilee Honours list, she was appointed as a Companion of the Queen’s Service Order for services to the public service.
