Join us for the Wellington Branch Annual Dinner, always a highlight of our events calendar, with guest speakers Stephen Jacobi and Tracey Bridges.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Wellington Branch Annual Dinner, where we’ll announce the 2025 Emerging Director Award recipient.
We’re delighted to have Stephen Jacobi anchor the evening with perspectives and insights about trade and geopolitics grounded in several decades of experience. He and Tracey Bridges will then have a conversation to dig into some of the themes Stephen surfaces. These two offer distinct yet complementary perspectives on governance in times of change and uncertainty.
Stephen Jacobi, one of New Zealand’s preeminent trade commentators, will share insights on how boards can monitor, assess and respond to geopolitical risk. Geopolitical dynamics - from trade tensions and supply chain disruptions to shifting alliances - are influencing the operating environment for New Zealand organisations as never before. Boards need to anticipate and respond to how these developments could impact market access, investment decisions, and organisational resilience.
Tracey Bridges is a highly respected Wellington insider, a professional director and social entrepreneur. Her governance roles include chairing the Wellington Regional Economic Development Agency and Creative HQ, and serving on the boards of WELLfed Charitable Trust, the Wellington Regional Stadium Trust, Whānau Āwhina Plunket and the Digital Media Trust. In discussion with Stephen, she will draw out the role of leadership, communication and purpose-driven approaches that help boards navigate complexity and connect strategy with impactful outcomes
Together, their conversation aligns with IoD’s Top 5 issues for directors in 2025, exploring how global uncertainty, social responsibility and long-term resilience are shaping the boardroom agenda.
