Join us for the launch of the 2026 Director Sentiment Survey as we explore the priorities, pressures and evolving concerns of New Zealand’s governance community across a broad range of entities and sectors.

Conducted annually in partnership with ASB, the Institute of Directors’ flagship survey captures what matters most to directors, offering a high-level view of the economic, business, and governance landscape from the boardroom perspective.

IoD General Manager – Governance Leadership Centre, Herman Visagie MInstD, will be joined by Kim Mundy, ASB Senior Economist, and Judene Edgar MNZM, CMInstD, IoD Principal Governance Advisor, to discuss the most pressing issues facing boards today and the longer-term trends shaping governance practice in Aotearoa.

The session will help directors, executives and governance professionals understand where boardroom pressure is building, how governance practice is changing, and how their own priorities and practices compare with those of boards across New Zealand.

Kim Mundy

Kim Mundy is acting Chief Economist at ASB. Kim has been with ASB since 2015, including four years in Sydney as a currency strategist with CBA. Her varied background means she has a deep understanding of multiple economies, macro-economic forecasting, and financial markets. Kim has a particular focus on translating complex macroeconomic signals into clear, useful insights for businesses, media, and the public. She also has a keen interest in sustainable economics.

Kim studied at the University of Auckland where she graduated with a BA/BCom (1st class honours) in Economics, Statistics and Politics. She also interned with the New Zealand Treasury while completing her studies before starting her career as an economic consultant.

Judene Edgar

CMInstD

Judene is a Principal Governance Adviser with the Institute of Directors’ Governance Leadership Centre and Chapter Zero NZ lead providing best practice advice, guidance and advocacy for directors. She is also Chair of the Nelson Historic Theatre Trust, Deputy Chair of the Rātā Foundation, a trustee of Network Tasman Trust, a member of the Energy Trusts of New Zealand Executive Committee, and a Council member of the New Zealand Society of Actuaries.

Prior to joining the IoD she ran her own consultancy for over 20 years, specialising in governance, policy, strategy and communications working across a wide range of sectors, including housing, health, solid waste, aviation, energy, not-for-profit and infrastructure. 

Judene was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to governance, local government and the community in the 2026 New Year Honours. She was a local government elected member for 12 years and a director on a range of private and public entity boards. She has a background in behavioural science and communications and is a Chartered Member of the IoD. 

Herman Visage

MInstD

Herman Visagie is an experienced executive level General Counsel, Company Secretary, and seasoned governor. He is passionate about the power of good governance and effective relationships between boards and management teams to help organisations achieve their desired outcomes more effectively.

Herman is currently Chief Executive Officer of Telecommunications Dispute Resolution Limited and has previously held executive roles at the Real Estate Authority and TSB. He holds board roles in the not- for-profit and regulatory sectors and has led a number of consultant engagements around governance improvement, including reviews of governance documentation, operations, and board reporting. He also provides training and education to senior leaders around effective board engagement.
