Directors tell us they want to hear more about what climate action looks like in practice – not just the ambition, but the decisions, challenges and changes involved in making it happen.
This Chapter Zero New Zealand breakfast brings together four leading New Zealand organisations from different sectors to share their stories of how they are responding to climate and nature-related risks and identifying strategic opportunities.
Through practical case stories, speakers will take us inside their organisations: what prompted action, what they chose to focus on, how they brought people with them, where they encountered challenges, and what they have learned along the way.
From infrastructure and retirement living to insurance and primary industries, each organisation is responding to a different operating environment and set of pressures. The session will draw out what is distinctive in each approach, as well as the lessons that translate across sectors.
Across the four stories, we’ll explore how climate and nature considerations are influencing strategy, investment, risk management and organisational change, and where action is creating opportunities for innovation, resilience and long-term value.

Margaret leads Summerset’s Finance and Strategy teams along with Corporate Services including Summerset’s Property and Legal teams.
Before joining Summerset Margaret was CFO at NZX/ASX listed technology company EROAD, CFO at Statistics New Zealand and was previously Summerset’s Head of Finance.
Margaret holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration and is a member of Chartered Accountants ANZ. She also holds a Diploma of Teaching.
Louise Tong is Executive Director, Sustainability at Infratil, where she leads the company’s sustainability strategy and supports integration and disclosure of climate and sustainability issues across its global portfolio of infrastructure investments.
Louise brings experience spanning sustainability, sustainable finance, capital markets and infrastructure. Prior to joining Infratil, she established BNZ’s Sustainable Finance capability and led a number of landmark sustainable finance transactions, including work supporting the establishment of the New Zealand Government’s Green Bond Programme.
Louise has also served as a Director and Chair of INFINZ, New Zealand’s professional body for the finance sector and as an independent member of Auckland Council’s Treasury Management Steering Group. She brings a practical perspective on the intersection of climate-related issues with financial and capital markets, as well as insights into how businesses and boards and management teams navigate climate risks and opportunities to strengthen resilience, inform investment decisions and create long-term value.
