Overview

Directors operate in a world of complexity and uncertainty, where effective oversight relies on asking the right questions. Following the Bay of Plenty Branch AGM, this session with Rodney Young, General Manager Risk and Assurance at Gallagher Group Limited, will challenge boards to rethink how they engage with risk.

Rodney is a recognised audit and risk leader with global experience in organisational resilience, internal audit, and enterprise risk. He has pioneered innovative practices, including AI-enabled risk frameworks and objective-centric risk models, to enhance performance and agility.

Drawing on real-world case studies, Rodney will introduce the Objective-Centric Risk Management (OCR) framework – a powerful approach that connects risk to strategic outcomes, rather than traditional registers. This session will equip directors with the tools and questions needed to improve risk alignment, strengthen accountability, and foster a more resilient governance culture.

Rodney will discuss how to:

  • Define risk through a strategic lens using ISO and COSO frameworks
  • Identify and address board blind spots in risk oversight
  • Align resources to high-impact, mission-critical risks
  • Frame tough, high-value questions that drive transparency and decision-making
  • Spot early warning signs and embed a strategy-aligned, risk-aware culture

Register now for this opportunity to explore how directors can elevate their impact through stronger risk governance.

If you would also like to attend the Bay of Plenty Branch AGM, a separate registration is required. Register here
