Overview

We invite you to join us for this interactive event, where our panel will discuss the unique challenges within the NFP sector. The panel will draw on their own experiences and provide insights on how they governed through various trials, tribulations and triumphs.

Following the panel Q&A, there will be specific time allocated for attendees and present not-for-profit organisations to meet and match.

Anchali Anandanayagam

Anchali Anandanayagam is a partner at Hudson Gavin Martin, a leading corporate and commercial law firm specialising in technology, media and intellectual property.  An expert in all legal aspects of technology, media and telecommunications, in the last 15 years Anchali has advised public and private sector customers and their suppliers alike on tech, media and telecommunications products and services. In addition, Anchali has considerable experience advising boards of various organisations, including on corporate governance matters.

With qualifications from the University of Otago, Anchali gained her experience with various local and global organisations, including as senior counsel for Pacific Fibre.  Anchali is also a keen advocate of purpose driven organisations.

Anchali sits on the boards of Women in Film and Television NZ and the Asylum Seekers Support Trust, and until recently, chaired the board of Thankyou Payroll Limited – a software-as-a-service company with a triple bottom line (where the social and environmental impact of the business is just as important as profits). 

Peter Farmer

Pete is founder and owner with his son of the Farmer Group which includes Farmer Autovillage, one of New Zealand’s largest auto dealerships and significant property holdings. 

His prior career positions have included NZ general manager for Nissan New Zealand, public affairs manager Todd Group (Includes auto, aviation, mining oil exploration and Todd Foundation) and joint / partnership auto ventures with Giltrap Group.

Peter strongly believes in giving back to the community which has been the cornerstone of our success.

He has been involved with various community organisations such as: chair of Bay Venues, deputy chair of Waipuna Hospice, founder member of priority one and Acorn Foundation. Board member of Riding for Disabled, NZ Avocado and NZ Motor Trade Association. Peter is also initiator/ funder of Takutimi Drive Flag Pole and RSA Papamoa Flag Pole as well as supporter/ funder of numerous other local community activities and projects.

Jana Rangooni

Based in Papamoa Jana is CEO of the Radio Broadcasters Association and on the boards of Paralympics New Zealand and the Advertising Standards Association. With most of her career in the media she has been part of the industry that shone the spotlight on many of New Zealand's most public crisis that have been dealt with by organisations and boards around the country. Running the radio brands for Mediaworks for many years she has also been on the other side of controversy and knows how unpleasant it can be. As a director now she says her view of things is different and thinks everyone around the board table need to have a clear understanding of what a crisis actually is and what role they have to play.
