The Bay of Plenty Branch invites Chartered Members to attend this dinner with guest speaker Deryck Shaw.
Join us for our Bay of Plenty Chartered Members dinner with Chartered Fellow Deryck Shaw.
Deryck has decades of governance experience in business, tertiary education, public health and sports. He will provide insights about governance invarious sectors, and his observations pre, during and post COVID-19.
This is a great opportunity for you to meet and converse openly, under Chatham House Rule, with other members and the Bay of Plenty Branch committee.
Deryck Shaw has had more than 30 years involved in governance in education, health and disabilities, tourism and sports and recreation sectors and more than 35 years as a business owner. Born in Whakatane and tertiary educated at Waikato, Lincoln and Canterbury universities he has been involved in many projects in the Bay of Plenty Region and has lived in Rotorua for more than 35 years. In his presentation he will talk about experiences and insights into governance.
Deryck has a number of professional memberships including being a Chartered Fellow of the NZ Institute of Directors; Member of New Zealand Association of Economists; Associate Fellow of New Zealand Institute of Management; Member of New Zealand Planning Institute; Foundation Member of Royal Society of New Zealand and Member, NZ Research Association.
In 2014 he was named Rotorua Business person of the year and a member of the NZ Order of Merit and was an inaugural recipient of the Distinguished Alumnae Award of the University of Waikato in 2007.
He has a number of business interests in tourism, property and consultancy and is currently deputy chair of Te Puia (New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute); director, Waimangu Volcanic Valley and chair NZ Walking Association (organises Rotorua Walking Festival).
Deryck has recently been appointed the Crown Chair for Te Puia NZMACI Management Ltd and also a board member of Waitangi Ltd.
