This is an outstanding opportunity to join the board of Y (YMCA) Central as a Future Director.

Organisation description

At Y Central, our mission is to empower young people and communities to build a just, sustainable, equitable, and inclusive Aotearoa where everyone can thrive in body, mind, and spirit.

Specifically, we deliver early childhood education, before and after school care, youth development programmes, community hubs, outdoor camps, and sport and recreation programmes. Our work spans from the Greater Wellington Region, to Whanganui, Palmerston North and Masterton.

Particular skills/competencies sought

The successful Future Director will have:

  • An interest in governance
  • Legal experience or expertise – a law degree is not absolutely necessary but someone with legal experience will be highly valued
  • Exposure and familiarity with fundraising and philanthropy

Commitment required

Board meetings are held four times per year, two to three of these will be held in Wellington. Up to two days per meeting cycle will be required for reading board papers and preparation.

Term

This is a 12-month appointment with a commencement date targeted to be early December
