Supporting smarter international alignment in climate reporting
Chapter Zero NZ urges phased, principles-based alignment that supports Trans-Tasman coherence and protects local relevance.
A new President, a new face on our board and a member’s motion passed.
Thank you to everyone who attended our AGM at The Boatshed in Wellington on 21 May – 68 members attended in person and 217 joined online.
The event was notable for being the last led by President Jackie Lloyd CFInstD, who finished her term. Jackie was the first President under our revamped governance structure and has worked tirelessly to ensure that our council and board work seamlessly together on behalf of the membership.
We were delighted to have confirmed that Trish Oakley CFInstD will step into the role of President, with Jonathan Mason CFInstD confirmed as Vice President.
Trish is Chancellor of the University of Otago, director of University of Otago Holdings Limited, a trustee of the Hocken Collection and the University of Otago Foundation Trust and a member of the New Zealand Lotteries Commission.
Jonathan is a Chartered Fellow, chair of the Auckland Branch Committee and is currently chair of the NZ US Council and a director of Zespri Group Ltd.
We were also pleased to announce the reappointments of Karen Price CFInstD and Aleisha Staples MInstD to the board, and that Scott Mason CFInstD, chair of our Otago Southland branch, will join the board in place of Chris Day (who stepped down in April). Chris provided valued service, bringing strong governance, finance and risk management skills to the board.
Members in attendance were asked to vote on a motion brought by Lorraine Thomson MInstD: “I move that the IoD in the year ahead, takes active steps to institute more gender equity on listed company boards in New Zealand.”
The motion was passed by majority vote.
After the meeting, Dame Fran Wilde DNZM QSO and Distinguished Fellow shared reflections on her storied governance career in a ‘fireside chat’ with Monique Forbes, a Future Director on the IoD board.
It’s always a pleasure to connect with members at our AGM and I look forward to seeing many of you at other IoD events throughout the year.
