Company Directors' Course
The Company Directors' Course (CDC) is our flagship course that builds governance capability and is a core part of the director development pathway. It is designed for current and aspiring directors, as well as senior executives who report to boards and want to better understand the role of governance.
Over five and a half days, you will explore the responsibilities of directorship and how good governance supports organisational performance. Each day includes boardroom simulations and case studies that reflect the realities of governance and decision making.
You will build your confidence, strengthen your judgement and improve your contribution at the board table.
The CDC is also a required step for those working towards becoming a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors.
Choose the format that works for you
To suit different needs, we offer three formats – so you can choose the option that best fits your lifestyle, location and learning style. No matter which format you choose, you’ll gain the same core knowledge, skills and insights from our leading governance course.

"We had a great set of speakers who spanned the breadth of competencies required of directors. Plenty of opportunity to put the concepts into practice through director simulations throughout the week. Not to mention the great group I was with..." - Michele Frey CMInstD, Napier |

"Good education is essential, and for governance it is no different. It is important to embed the core principles of governance, understand what they mean and be able to successfully implement them in any board situation. The IoD facilitators all had “hard hat” real board experiences they were able to share with us." - Mike Lay CMInstD, Leeston |
