Overview 

This session is facilitated by Samantha Sharif, a Wellington Branch committee member and experienced director. Samantha will take you through the steps and processes involved in securing your first board appointment, including:

  • Developing your networks
  • developing yourself
  • continuing professional development
  • maximising your opportunities; 
  • and selecting the right role for you.

Pauline Prince, your IoD Branch Manager will join Samantha to discuss the support offered by the IoD and ways they can assist you to reach your governance goals.

Samantha Sharif

Samantha Sharif, LLM (Hons), LLB (Hons), Grad Dip CSP, CMInstD, is a professional director with key strengths in investment, infrastructure, logistics and safety critical industries. She has a background in CEO and leadership roles in the commercial aviation industry globally, as well as previously practising internationally as a commercial lawyer and with post-graduate qualifications in finance and governance.

Her current governance roles are Director NZ Shareholders Association, director MOTAT, director and chair audit and risk committee – Motor Trade Association Inc, director and NZ Country lead – Flirtey Ltd, director and former chair – NZ Institute of Safety Management Inc and member – Standards Approval Board.
