Join KPMG’s 2026 Governance in Government series breakfast with the Auditor General, Grant Taylor.
Grant Taylor will share insights from his career in both the public and private sectors, including his experience as an adviser and audit partner for major organisations.
This session offers directors a chance to learn about emerging expectations, sector trends, and what effective stewardship looks like in practice. He will discuss the importance of assurance in building trust, how directors can support strong governance systems, and the key issues shaping public-sector performance and accountability. There will also be time for questions and discussion.
Grant Taylor began his term as Controller and Auditor-General on 3 July 2025.
Grant graduated from Victoria University of Wellington with a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration. He is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
Grant started his career at the Office before moving to private practice. He was previously a Managing Partner in a multi-disciplinary professional services firm, the appointed auditor for a number of significant public organisations, and an adviser to many more.
His experience also includes providing advice to clients in the property, aged care, energy, and mining sectors.
Before his appointment, Grant chaired, or was a member of, a number of advisory boards for public organisations.
