Overview

Susannah's realisation highlights the importance of active allyship in breaking down barriers and promoting equality at the board table and in the workplace. While education and empathy are crucial components of allyship, they must be accompanied by tangible actions to create meaningful change.

In Susannah's case, she recognises the support she received from her male co-workers as a form of allyship that was instrumental in her career advancement. Susannah's evolving understanding of allyship underscores the necessity of proactive engagement.

Being an ally requires actively calling out injustices, challenging discriminatory attitudes and behaviours, and advocating for the rights and advancement of marginalised individuals. It entails putting oneself on the line and using one's privilege and influence to effect positive change.
