Hosted by Nexia New Zealand, this session explores where directors should focus to build financial resilience and oversee risk.
Boards play a pivotal role in ensuring their organisations are financially resilient and equipped to manage risk. While monitoring financial indicators is essential, operational risks (including supply chain, technology, regulatory compliance, and workforce challenges) can pose just as great a threat to organisational continuity.
This session will focus on the considerations directors should be aware of when overseeing both financial and operational risks. Attendees will explore how business continuity risk and practical indicators can be identified, governance responsibilities, and strategies to strengthen oversight across all key risk areas.
Directors' Deep Dive events are smaller interactive discussion-style sessions where you will be encouraged to ask questions and actively contribute your perspectives.
Jono is a Partner in the Tax and Business Advisory divisions at Nexia New Zealand, appointed Partner in 2023. He brings a governance‑relevant perspective shaped by both professional advisory and senior in‑house experience, working closely with boards and executive teams on complex regulatory and investment decisions.
Jono began his career with a Big 4 accounting firm, advising high net worth individuals and large New Zealand and offshore enterprises on tax risk, compliance, and transactional matters. He later held senior roles at Synlait Milk, where he worked in strategy and innovation, leading R&D and capital programmes from concept through to board‑level business cases and delivery.
This combination of advisory and commercial experience enables Jono to support directors in governing tax, regulatory, and investment risk, strengthening assurance over R&D and capital programmes, and aligning compliance obligations with strategic objectives.
