Health and safety risk management

Overview

In this module we begin by defining risk and provide an overview of the types of risk and key concepts. Effective risk governance is a critical part of health and safety leadership, so we explore the risk management process and its application within the agency environment.

During the face to face workshop, we will build on the knowledge gained pre-course, to understand the role of risk governance and identify critical risks. Different agencies will have varying degrees of tolerance to risk, depending on their appetite, so we explore how to report and communicate this to staff. We will look at how you can optimise controls assurance depending on the likelihood, exposure and impact, verses the level of harm resulting from the activity.

Lastly, we finish with the post course module which includes a deep dive into risk mapping, risk matrix’s and a BowTie Analysis.

We will bring the learnings to life through practical application, face to face learning and online modules.
