Chynel James

A former graduate of Auckland University Business school, Chynel has spent the past 4 1/2 years, as Chief Technology Officer for BDO New Zealand.

This role overseas all IT components across BDO’s 19 offices in New Zealand, along with a responsibility to engage with the BDO Global team across IT matters.

One of the key aspects of Chynel’s role is the protection of BDO’s and its client data.  She ensures BDO understands how their data is utilised and how to put the systems, processes and education in place to keep it safe.

This is balanced with the business requirements to digitally engage with clients, while ensuring the right safe guards are in place.

Chynel has been in the IT sector for 30 years and prior to BDO NZ, spent 18 years developing her leadership and technical knowledge at Air New Zealand, where she gained good insight to risk methodologies, business processes and technology advancements.
