Boards are increasing their focus on understanding the risks and opportunities arising from ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) factors and their impact on profitability and performance. These factors have begun to directly influence financial markets – evidenced by a positive correlation between the share price and good sustainable practices, indicating the significance of investor influence on share price, stakeholder awareness and the importance of high-quality information and transparency. Additionally, new climate regulations and IFRS’ drive towards global accounting standards for recording and disclosing these practices to those investors and stakeholders, is advancing the convergence towards common standards that are likely to impact all organisations.
Colin will illustrate, through global case studies, how co-created impact management plans, can help you and your team measure organisational impact for enhancing your governance, engaging your stakeholders, and identifying opportunities for innovation while mitigating and adapting to social and planetary change.
Colin is Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Relativ Group, an impact solutions provider based in Cape Town, South Africa with subsidiaries in Canada and New Zealand serving investors, corporates, social enterprises, foundation, government agencies and non-profits in over 30 countries.
His PhD research focused on the decision-making dynamics of institutional investors towards responsible investing. Through academic research and professional practice, Colin and his multi-disciplinary team has focussed on building tools, processes and plans to serve organisations and their decision-makers to identify, manage and amplify their impact for more than 15 years.
He has contributed to a variety of industry and media reviews and presented at conferences across the world on impact management, finance, analytics, decision-making, fundraising, and strategic communications and the perspectives they bring to business and social systems.
He is a Member of the Institute of Directors (New Zealand), Fellow of Royal Society of Arts and Commerce (UK), Fellow of the Institute of Directors of South Africa, an Endeavor mentor and serves on the boards of for-profit and non-profit purpose-driven organisations including The Resource Alliance, UK.
