Through the lens of local high growth tech company, CoGo, we explore the role of purpose in a high performing board.
This session will provide inspirational insights to prove that putting people and the planet first makes sense. With major 20/21 expansion plans in NZ and the UK, CoGo connects businesses and consumers to take action on global social and environmental issues using digital technology to enable real and measurable positive impact.
CoGo CEO, Ben Gleisner and chair, Serge van Dam, will share compelling stories illustrating the role of purpose in creating exponential shareholder and venture value.
This session will also provide insights into the unique features of startup governance including scaling cutting edge technology to deploy disruptive business models in multiple markets, raising venture capital and sourcing highly specialised talent.
Ben is an economist, environmentalist and social entrepreneur. He has a Masters in Environmental Economics from Victoria University, where he focused on climate change policy. He then spent seven years at the New Zealand Treasury, where he worked on domestic climate change policy and the UNFCCC international climate negotiations.
While at Treasury Ben led the development of the Living Standards Framework, which underpins the current Governments Wellbeing agenda. Ben left Treasury in 2012 to found a tech start-up, which he has now taken to the UK under the brand CoGo. CoGo helps consumers understand their real-time carbon footprint, and this feature will be launching in their NZ app later this year.
Serge van Dam is an active Investor director in globally-minded kiwi software companies, including Montoux, Re-Leased, Raygun and CoGo.
Originally an organisational psychologist, Serge is passionate about growth in all of its manifestations, and has a deep interest in software-driven disruption. He spent a decade as an acknowledged thought leader in fintech / digital banking, having been part of the leadership team for M-Com - the world's leading mobile banking platform - which was acquired by NASDAQ-listed Fiserv in 2011.
