Join this interactive panel discussion to learn how to build an effective governance structure for your start-up.
Founders, investors, board members, employees and all participants in start-up companies should understand the basic principles of best governance practice. Governance, briefly put, is the set of rules and procedures that governs the start-up and dictates how the entity and its affairs are controlled, managed and operated. A strong governance structure for start-up businesses is "essential," to help build expertise and funds.
Join our panel of directors for this informal and interactive event at FMG Stadium, Hamilton. This is your opportunity to ask those burning questions you have about how start-up organisations can ensure good governance standards to ensure a sustainable organisation when funds and/or expertise may be lacking. Our panel who will share their stories and experiences at this event are Nina Le Lievre, CEO of Enterprise Angels, Colin Groves, Chair of Waikato Rugby Union, and Julian So, Director of CFO 4 U Limited, who like Colin is also a Director on the board of multiple start-ups.
This event is in partnership with Enterprise Angels and sponsored by Craigs Investment Partners.
With a background in investment banking Nina joined Enterprise Angels as Manager in 2013. Since then she has been immersed in angel investing, working with prospective and existing portfolio companies in their early startup stage. In July 2019 Nina became CEO of Enterprise Angels and now sits on the Angel Association of NZ Leadership Council.
Originally from Cornwall, Colin is now a fully fledged Kiwi living in the dairy farming heartland of Waikato, where he Chairs the Rugby Union. Colin personifies the essence of Agri, Tech and Governance. He sits on many boards in UK, USA and New Zealand and invests both his time and resource heavily in this scene. His passion in investment doesn’t stop there. If it is an innovative Agri and /or Tech start-up Colin is always interested and his list of successes is impressive. His diverse interests combined with over 25 years of board experience in a wide range of commercial, small to large, business settings give him excellent context to strategically direct and mentor.
Julian is a Chartered Accountant with over 15 years of CFO and senior executive experience. His industry experience includes Aviation, Building and Construction, Education, Engineering and technical services, Manufacturing and SaaS. In response to recognising that many startups faced challenges in the areas of finance Julian established CFO 4 U in 2018. Through this has provided contract and virtual CFO services to many startups and high growth companies with annual revenue under $50m.
