Overview 

The national rollout of 5G is predicted to add between $5.7 billion and $8.9 billion per year to the New Zealand economy over the next 10 years. NERA Economic Consulting. 

5G has arrived in Dunedin this month and we are delighted to have Renee join us to explain the benefits that 5G will bring to the city.  She will also share Spark’s strategy and key use cases to assist directors and the organisations they govern ensure they stay ahead of the technology curve.

Renee Mateparae

As Tribe Lead for Technology Evolution at Spark, New Zealand’s leading telecommunications provider, Renee is responsible for delivery of Spark’s Smart Networks strategic programmes. This includes the programmes such as the 5G roll-out, Spark’s IoT business, 4G enhancement programme, and the evolution of Spark’s fixed transport, and access and aggregation networks. 

Renee joined Spark four years ago and has previously held the role of Tribe Lead – Mobile, responsible for Spark’s total mobile product portfolio and Commercial and Operations Director for Spark Ventures. At Spark Ventures, she led a number of key projects in the investments and acquisitions space, including several strategic acquisitions in the New Zealand market.

Prior to joining Spark, Renee had extensive experience in corporate strategy, business transformation and customer experience. In her most recent role, she led the customer experience strategy for Air New Zealand – New Zealand’s major airline with a reputation for innovative customer experiences.

Renee is a Future Director with The Warehouse Group – playing a board observer role for New Zealand’s largest retail business. She has an honours degree in Engineering, specialising in Automation and Control Engineering, as well as a post-graduate diploma in Business from Massey University.
