Overview

Audit and Risk Committee (ARC) plays a crucial role in enhancing transparency, accountability, and integrity within an organisation by overseeing financial reporting and risk management practices, ultimately contributing to the company's long-term success and sustainability.

Our panel of senior directors and ARC experts will discuss the role of an ARC and the evolving nature of this committee. Covering topics such as ERM system, managing risk appetite between governors and management, ESG, cyber and legal risk, TCFD framework and audit management. Throughout the session our panel will offer practical tips and advice.

Panelists 

Trish Oakley

Trish is a member of the Institute of Directors, IoD Otago-Southland Branch committee chair, Vice President of the IoD’s National Council and director of the IoD’s board.

She joined Forsyth Barr Ltd in March 2000 where she is Head of Summer. Trish has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, having previously worked in banking and is chair of the Financial Services Council Strategic Research Committee and Co-Chair of their Investment and KiwiSaver committee.

Trish is currently Pro Chancellor of the University of Otago, and director of University of Otago Holdings. She is also a member of the New Zealand Lotteries Commission. Trish holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Otago and is a member of Global Women.

Keiran Horne

Keiran is a professional director with experience in both the public and private sectors.  Prior to her governance career, Keiran worked as an Accountant specialising in business rescue and insolvency, strategic planning, change management and commercial transactions.  She has significant governance experience in strategic risk management and assurance, having Chaired numerous Audit and Risk Committees.

Keiran has held a range of governance roles including TVNZ,  Lotto and Solid Energy.  She is currently on the Boards of Enable Network Services Ltd, University of Canterbury, Quayside Holdings Ltd, ScreenSouth Ltd,  she also Chair’s the Strategic Risk and Assurance Committee for Hamilton City Council 

Keiran is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors.

Kyle Cameron

Kyle is a Partner at Deloitte and has over 20 years’ experience in accounting and finance related roles. Kyle has a broad range of skills, is commercially astute and is responsible for delivering advisory and consulting services to a range of clients nationally.

Kyle has strong governance experience in the capacity of both a director and an advisor to a number of boards. He is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Directors.

Malcolm Wong

Malcolm is a Fellow Chartered Accountant and founding partner of Cook North & Wong Ltd, having been with the firm since its inception.

In the 2022 New Year Honours Malcolm was awarded an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to the community and New Zealand - China relations.

Malcolm graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Otago in 1980 and worked in Singapore and the United Kingdom before returning to New Zealand in 1987.

Malcolm Wong was Chairman of the Dunedin Shanghai Association for ten years and has been Chairman of the Dunedin Chinese Gardens Trust since 2008. Malcolm currently serves on the University of Otago Council, Otago Community Trust and the Chinese Poll tax Heritage Trust all of which are ministerial appointments.

He is married to Nicola, and they have two girls.  He is heavily involved in community activities, Chinese matters, and church affairs.  Malcolm was born in Dunedin of Cantonese parents.
