Overview

New Zealand Boards and their organisations have seen major threats materialise that weren’t fully recognised or specifically planned for over recent years.  A series of major earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, climate change impacts and a global pandemic have been challenging and with very visible impacts that Boards have helped their management navigate and work through.

The Russia-Ukraine conflict has raised the cyber security profile, even though the conflict seems a long way from New Zealand. Cyber-attacks are now a constant feature of business risk.  Every level of activity in any organisation relies on technology directly or indirectly and is at risk from malicious actors.  As a result, oversight of effective and integrated leadership of cyber security is central to a Board’s role in delivering organisational strategy, organisation risk management and delivering value.

In many countries, requirements for reporting cyber-attacks, expectations of board level oversight of cyber security and calls for boards and directors to build their digital and cyber capability are growing.

This webcast will:

  • explore the wider context and expectations on Boards, to be more aware of the cyber context for their organisations
  • share insights that will strengthen your cyber defences  and how to deal with them when they do materialise
  • outline actions directors and boards can take, to ensure their organisations are well prepared for the cyber threats they face
