Join us for this discussion on the Silicon Valley Bank collapse with Christine Gorjan, Kenny Malone, and Nick Tuffley
The Silicon Valley Bank collapse is the second largest in United States history. Uncertainty about the Bank’s financial situation sparked another world first: a digital bank run. At least initially, fears rose about wider impacts on United States banks, and potentially others internationally. With two other banks in the US collapsing and other developments with Credit Suisse in Switzerland those fears appears to be on the verge of being realised. The situation got to the point where even one of the largest investment firm, Blackrock, published information about their relatively small exposure to Silicon Valley Bank.
This webcast will provide a different take on the Silicon Valley Bank. It will cover the human story behind the collapse. Against that background you’ll hear about the underlying causes of the collapse, the financial and economic impacts of the collapse in New Zealand, and the extent to which it could happen here. The webcast will also cover the lessons for governance, particularly for oversight of risk management and the role audit and risk committees need to play.
