Overview

We’re delighted to bring Chapter Zero New Zealand to Ōtautahi Christchurch for our first major event in the region – an inspiring evening designed to spark conversation and catalyse action at the boardroom level.

Join David Downs, CEO of New Zealand Story, for a powerful and entertaining keynote on why sustainability is no longer a sideline but a strategic imperative. Drawing on his experience helping to define and promote New Zealand’s nation brand, David will share how purpose-led storytelling can strengthen trust, grow global competitiveness, and futureproof organisational strategy. He will highlight the strategic advantages for organisations that align climate and social impact with business performance and the vital role of governance in leading that shift.

Following the keynote, David will be joined by an exceptional panel of Ōtautahi leaders for discussion on how climate, brand, and board leadership align to drive real impact. Panellists are:

  • Kate Morrison, Director, Christchurch International Airport; Chair, NZ Merino Company
  • Lauren Quaintance, Chair, ChristchurchNZ
  • Jolanda Cave, General Manager, Ngāi Tahu Tourism

Together they will explore how sustainability and branding go hand-in-hand, what we can learn from New Zealand’s and their own organisational stories, and the business and reputational benefits of embracing authentic climate and social commitments. They’ll also unpack how purpose-led positioning can elevate organisations, and why governance leadership is essential in the shift from compliance to contribution.

Whether you're a company director, trustee, executive, or purpose-driven leader, this Business After 5 event is your opportunity to connect, be inspired, and help unlock the opportunities of climate-conscious governance in Aotearoa.
