Hosted by Dame Therese Walsh, Chair of the Chapter Zero New Zealand Steering Committee, this breakfast event will feature a keynote address from the Hon. Nicola Willis, New Zealand’s Minister of Finance, Minister for the Public Service, Minister for Social Investment and the Associate Minister of Climate Change. 

Minister Willis will share the government’s plans around climate transition finance and investment and how New Zealand will work to meet its global commitments.

The keynote address will be followed by a Q&A session facilitated by Dame Therese.

Hon. Nicola Wills

Nicola Willis is the Minister of Finance, Minister for the Public Service, Minister for Social Investment and Associate Minister of Climate Change.

Prior to becoming an MP, Nicola held a number of senior management roles at New Zealand dairy co-operative Fonterra. She also served on the boards of Export NZ and policy think-tank the New Zealand Initiative.

Nicola was a senior advisor to Prime Minister John Key during his first term in Government, having previously worked for the National Party in Opposition.

She is a graduate of Victoria University of Wellington with a first-class Honours degree in English literature. She grew up in Wellington, and today she lives there with her husband Duncan and their four children.

Dame Therese Walsh

Dame Therese Walsh is Chair of Air New Zealand Ltd and ASB Bank Ltd, and a Director of Antarctica New Zealand.

She is a former Director of Contact Energy Ltd, Television New Zealand Ltd, NZX Ltd., Save the Children NZ, the Wellington Regional Stadium Trust and New Zealand Cricket. She was Pro Chancellor of Victoria University of Wellington from 2018 to 2021 and served on the Council since 2016.

In her professional capacity, Dame Therese was Head of New Zealand for the ICC 2015 Cricket World Cup, Chief Operating Officer for Rugby New Zealand 2011 Ltd and CFO for New Zealand Rugby.

For her services to sport, she was made a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2015. She was named the supreme winner of the Women of Influence Awards 2013 and awarded a Sir Peter Blake Trust Leadership Award in 2014. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors and Chair of the IoD’s Chapter Zero New Zealand Steering Committee.
