Overview

The Global Risks Report 2022, co-authored by Marsh McLennan and published in partnership with the World Economic Forum, was launched earlier this year providing companies with insights into threats to their business and changes to the global risk landscape. COVID-19 continues to exacerbate ongoing geopolitical and societal challenges. Climate change looms large. Innovative and collaborative approaches to resilience are needed more than ever.

Speakers

Steven Hills

Steve is an experienced senior insurance executive with extensive knowledge and capability in the corporate sector. He has worked in the insurance industry for over 37 years.  He joined Marsh in May 2016 and leads the Marsh South Island business. Steve is involved in key client relationships for both existing clients and potential new business.

Reece Johns

Reece started his successful career over 30 years ago as a commercial underwriter for a leading NZ insurance company and subsequently moved into a specialist liability role in 1995. This culminated in his appointment as the lead Casualty/Liability underwriter at a multinational insurer. Included in its client portfolio were some of NZ’s major power generation, distribution and retail businesses, along with major primary industry companies and exporters, known to many consumers.

Since relocating to the South Island 16 years ago, Reece held the lead liability role at an international broking house for 6 years where he advised a range of professionals and corporate businesses  This was followed by 8 years in another role at NZ’s and the world’s largest broking firm as part of the corporate team in Christchurch.

Reece joined Marsh to head the Financial and Professional Risks (Finpro) team in the South Island in December 2019.  Finpro forms part of the Marsh Specialities trading division and is solely focused on offering advisory services and insurance products to our clients on liability matters.

George Byrne (MC)

With an insurance broking career spanning 34 years, George has worked in the UK, NZ and Middle East markets.  

A specialist in business development and the introduction of new clients, George is especially experienced in construction, food and beverage, irrigation and engineering risks. 

George also works with selected clients in a team lead or senior relationship capacity, coordinating delivery of all Marsh resources and expertise, overall service and marketing strategies. 

George joined Marsh in November 2021 and is a qualified Professional Insurance Broker and a member of The New Zealand Society of Risk Management.
