Paul joined ASB in early 2020 following three years advising export and import businesses and four years creating and leading the Asia desk for another leading Australasian bank. Over a 30-year career in international business, Paul started and exited a food & fibre export business, represented the New Zealand Government for eight years in Asia and North America as a Trade Commissioner, Regional Investment Director and Consul General and was also General Manager of a global B2C ecommerce business.
With an interest in cross-border finance, Paul developed business cases for foreign acquisitions in Europe, set up the global footprint for an international payments technology company and raised three rounds of capital for two New Zealand businesses. Paul studied international business, agriculture economics, marketing and finance at Massey University, University of Auckland and Harvard Business School and has been an advisor and board member for numerous businesses, not-for-profits and business councils.
Nick Tuffley was appointed as ASB’s Chief Economist in January 2007, having previously worked at Westpac and the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. Nick studied at Canterbury University, graduating with a Master of Commerce in Economics.
He and the rest of the Economics team provide regular analysis of economic developments and the outlook through written publications and media comments. Their key objective is to help the bank’s clients make better-informed business and personal finance decisions. The Economics team has won 4 Consensus Economics Forecast Accuracy Awards for their NZ forecasts.

Helen is an entrepreneur and professional director with decades of experience leading technology companies and driving innovation across the technology, finance, sustainability, and consumer goods sectors. Her personal mission is to ‘do good at scale’.
Helen’s governance career spans public, private, public sector and not-for-profit organisations.
Currently Helen’s directorships include financial markets (Generate Kiwisaver and LGFA), chairing tech startups (AI – Kara Technologies, space – Astrix Astronautics, medical device – JUNOFEM), founder and chair consumer products company Organic Initiative (Oi), and chairing infrastructure organisations (REANNZ (Research Education Advanced Network) and Group Shared Services across the Auckland Council Group). Helen chairs NZTE’s Beachhead Advisors for NZ and is a Board Member of NZ Tech.
Helen’s previous executive positions include Managing Director of Microsoft New Zealand, Head of Pivotal Corporation Asia Pacific, and inaugural CEO of (what is now) S&P Global’s environmental registry and Organic Initiative (Oi).
In 2018, Helen was named an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) for her outstanding services to technology and business, and she is the recipient of numerous other awards for business and innovation including Supreme Award Women of Influence in 2016.

Ross is Chair of the IoD Board and sits on the Auckland Branch Committee. He has a variety of directorships including ASB Bank, Stride Property, Investore Property and he chairs the Service Foods Board. Ross is also a member of the Massey University Council and before that role, spent nine years on the Massey Business School Advisory Board.
Ross had a 38-year career with KPMG, 27 years as a Partner, and has managed the firm’s Audit, Risk and Tax practices in addition to the firms’ People, Performance and Culture function. During his last nine years Ross was the Executive Chair of KPMG New Zealand and a member of KPMG’s Asia Pacific Board and KPMG’s Global Council.
Ross was brought up in the Wairarapa and attained a Bachelor of Business from Massey University. He joined KPMG in 1983 and has seen the world from many different perspectives having worked in KPMG’s Amsterdam, Toronto, International and Wellington offices before moving to Auckland in 2008.
