Overview

This session is being facilitated by one of our IoD branch committee members, professional director, Samantha Sharif. Samantha will take you through the steps and processes involved in building your board career, such as:

  • Developing your networks
  • Developing yourself
  • Continuing professional development
  • Maximising your opportunities;
  • and selecting the right role for you.

Samantha will also discuss the support offered by the IoD and how they can assist you to reach your governance goals.

Samantha Sharif

As a Wellington Branch Committee member, Samantha is also a Professional Director with key strengths in infrastructure, logistics, transport and safety critical industries. She has a background in CEO and leadership roles in the commercial aviation industry globally, as well as previously practising internationally as a commercial lawyer and with post-graduate qualifications in finance and governance.

Her current governance roles are Director and Chair Audit & Risk Committee – Motor Trades Association Inc, Director and Chair HSSE and Remuneration Committees – Orillion Ltd, Director and NZ Country lead – Flirtey Ltd, Independent Adviser and member HSSE Committee – Coastal Oil Logistics Ltd, Advisory Board member (and former Chair) – NZ Institute of Safety Management Inc and Member – Standards Approval Board.

Samantha was awarded the first Aspiring Directors Award by the Wellington Branch of the IoD in 2005 and has remained an active member of the Branch ever since.
